[Action] mode is where you have a crosshair all the time and is suited for this classes.
Berserker, Assassin, Guardian and Ranger.
[Standard] mode is more for ranged classes and where you have a mouse visible at all times.
Is suited for this classes Wizard, Priest, Trickster and Magician.
Mounted Combat
There's mounted combat as well, where one can fight while riding a familiar both in the air and on the ground.
You get 2 weapons for mounted combat as the story progresses
a spear and a crossbow - as well as skills which can be used while mounted. Both weapons and skills can be used in the same manner whether on a ground or flying familiar.
For mounted combat your stats and class determine your dps. So priest would do little damage but would last longer be able to heal.
An assassin would do lots of damage but would have to use potions or eat food to replenish health.
Energy Points
Mounts also use up energy while traveling or fighting. Never fear, since potions can be used to refill their energy in or out of combat.
However, once a mounts energy is all used up, they will be de-summoned.
The mount will regain their energy slowly over time or you can use an energy potion to instantly re-energize them.
Health is very important to all adventurers. When one is defeated in battle, they will be forced to resurrect with certain debuffs, which decrease movement as well as overall combat ability.
Offense (DPS)
Damage per second (DPS) is calculated based on either physical or magical attack, as well as the attack speed.
It is the average of the maximum and minimum attack divided by the attack speed. ((Max attack + Min attack) / 2) / (seconds per attack) = Damage/second (DPS)
For instance a level 8 assassin with 76~108 physical attack power will have an average physical attack of 92.
Since the attack speed of twin daggers is 0.88 seconds for every attack, the overall DPS is 104.54. This number is rounded down, and the final DPS of the assassin is 104.
The two ways to increase DPS are either to decrease attack speed (which seems constant) or to increase physical or magical attack.
For the latter, tempering and gaining stronger items with specific stats will increase attack and DPS. Make sure that the stats chosen are compatible with the class.
Putting points into strength would be useless for a wizard, who only has magical attack, and not physical attack.
Physical Attack
Increasing DPS seems to increase the damage done with skills. However, more research needs to be done on this matter.
Magic Attack
It is uncertain if increasing magic attack, and hence DPS, increases the damage of skills. If anyone has more insight, please include your knowledge here.
Defense
Base Defense
An adventurers defense is split up into two categories, physical and magical, which deal with the physical and magical attacks from enemies.
These defenses will mitigate the amount of damage enemies will do. For instance, a level 8 hunter with ~180 physical defense will only be hit by 55% damage that the enemy would originally have given.
“This may only be true for same-level enemies. Whether it runs true for easier or harder enemies this necessary investigation.”
Auction
The Auction is another form to buy and sell goods at a price you want.
Each item in the game will have a value that you can sell to NPC Merchants.
With the Auction, you can make the price more than what the item is worth, you can put it up in the Auction in hopes of someone buying it.
Locations
The first available auction managers are in Hakanas Crossing.
There is also an Auction manager in Kellwoods (Hakanas Highlands), There is one located at Fort Baellas (Sea of Hakanas).
Selling
To sell an item you have in your inventory, walk up to an Auction manager.
When the Auction window pop opens, click on the Sell tab. From there, drag or right-click the item you wish to sell.
Your item should replace the empty box. Below your item, you'll want to enter in the price you wish to sell it for.
Keep in mind that there is a fee for putting your item in the Auction, Once you are set, click Register, and you item is now listed on the right to show thats its inside the Auction house.
Note: Remember, you are entering in an Individual Price, and not an exact price.
(Ex. You want to sell 10 Seal Stones for 1 Gold all together. In the Individual price, you'll enter in 10 Silver.)
Buying
Once you have the Auction opened up, there is a search bar on the top-right if you know what you are looking for.
(Keep in mind that the way you spell it matters, especially the first letter of the name MUST be capitalized.)
There are many ways to narrow down the item you want. On the top, you can select the page to show: Most Recent, Low to High Price, High to Low Price. On the left side, there are many ways to narrow it down from Weapon Type, Armor Type, Potions, Familiars, etc.
A lot is on the market, just got to find the right item with the right price.
Crafting
Allows players to create many items using resources obtained from gathering or monster drops.
Six crafting categories are available: Weapon Crafting, Armor Crafting, Jewelry Crafting, Familiar Research, Alchemy, and Cooking.
The player may craft in any and all of these six categories once they reach Hakain's Crossing, and can provide access to powerful equipment or familiar marks for a variety of highly-coveted familiars.
Crafting Categories
There are six crafting categories in Riders of Icarus.
All six categories are available at all times, but each category has its own crafting table.
When crafting in a particular category, it is imperative to be at the appropriate crafting table, although the crafting window itself may be accessed anywhere.
Weapon Crafting
Weapon crafting uses minerals gathered from the world to create different all types of weapons.
Ingots are the primary resource in weapon recipes.
Every kind of weapon is available regardless of the player's class. Weapon Crafting requires a Weapon Anvil.
Armor Crafting
Armor Crafting also uses minerals in crafting armor, but instead of ingots armor crafting uses alloys to craft armors.
Like Weapon Crafting, all types of armor may be crafted by all classes.
This includes 7 pieces: helm, shoulders, armor, gloves, shoes, shields (for guardians), and crests (for priests). An Armor Anvil is needed in order to craft armor.
Jewelry Crafting
For necklaces and rings, Jewelry Crafting is the category to turn to.
Jewelry Crafting also uses minerals, turning them into powder to create accessories for the player.
The player must be by a Jewelry Table to start crafting jewelry.
Barder Crafting
Barder Crafting creates armor for any tamed familiars, as well as supplies marks the player needs to attempt to tame many powerful familiars.
Barder Crafting requires a Bardercraft Table.
Alchemy Crafting
Alchemy uses herbs and mushrooms to concoct useful potions to replenish Health and Mana, as well as stamina potions to help replenish a familiars' stamina.
An Alchemy Lab allows the player to craft these potions.
Cooking Crafting
Using ingredients found through hunting and gathering, Cooking creates delectible dishes that can restore Health or Mana over time and even provide stat bonuses for the player.
In order to start cooking, the player needs to be near a Cook Station.
Basics of Gathering
Gathering is a crucial part of Riders of Icarus as you will need to gather many items from both Open World
and Instanced locations (like Dungeons) in order to craft exclusive equipment, potions, and marks for taming familiars. Gathering is leveled in "Stages."
Gathering and Crafting are both leveled by Proficiency which is only earned by actually performing the action.
In order to gain Proficiency in Gathering, you actually have to gather materials. You can find out how here and also locations of materials here.
To see your current stage of Proficiency in Gathering, look at the bottom of the Details window, to the right of your character page (p).
To make gathering easier, there are two useful settings: the first is found by clicking the settings wheel on the mini-map and checking the option that says collectibles.
Ore and plant icons will appear on the map, indicating the resources in a 75m radius. The second option is found in the Game section of the Settings panel.
Checking Object Names will show the names of collectibles such as ore and plants. Using the two settings together, one can find the general location using the mini-map and then zero in on it using the on-screen name.
Gathering Proficiency
Stage 1 only has a requirement of 5 Proficiency points to advance to Stage 2.
If you follow the side quests or just do it on your own, you should easily have your Gathering to Stage 2 by the time you reach the Hakanas Highlands.
Up to a point, every time you gather materials will earn you 1 Proficiency point.
Stage 2 requires a total of 40 Proficiency points to advance to Stage 3.
Once you have reached 20/40 Proficiency points, your chances to find double or elite materials will start to increase.
When you reach 34/40 Proficiency points, Gathering no longer guarantees any improvement. It will be important to Gather more advanced materials to improve faster, as Poron Mushrooms and Copper Ores are no longer worth much in terms of Proficiency.
Gold and Iron ores will improve Proficiency, but are still not guaranteed to give you an additional point for collection.
Stage 3 requires a total of 60 Proficiency points to advance to Stage 4.
Stage 4 requires a total of 120 Proficiency points to advance to Stage 5, Stage 5 is a total of 240 Proficiency points.
Transcendence System
This system allows Riders to absorb identical gear and weapons to enhance and upgrade the stats of another.
Items In order for you to transcend, you need an identical piece of gear or weapon, and one of the following:
Modest Heroic Transcending Stone (Level 45 and below)
Austere Heroic Transcending Stone (Level 46 to 55)
Complex Heroic Transcending Stone (Level 56 - 65)Legendary Transcending Stone
Modest Legendary Transcending Stone (Level 45 and below)
Austere Legendary Transcending Stone (Level 46 to 55)
Complex Legendary Transcending Stone (Level 56 - 65).
Which Transcending Stone you need, depends on what level and grade gear you are trying to transcend.
Transcending. Once you have your transcending stone and an identical piece of gear, you can start transcending. You can only transcend gear.
If you fail a Transcending, you will not lose the piece you are trying to transcend, only the transcending stone.
Although, once you reach a certain transcending point, you will lose the duplicate gear and the transcending stone. For example:
Transcending gear up to 2/7 will not consume the duplicate gear if it fails
Transcending gear pass 2/7 will consume the dupliacte gear if it fails
Obtain Transcendence
Legendary Transcending Stones can drop from legendary dungeons, world bosses, events.
Mithycal Transcending (Clone Replica) from legendary dungeons, world bosses, events.
What does it do?
Stat Increase.
All primary stats on the selected gear are increased by 1 or 2 points per level if you succeed a transcend.
If the gear can be transcended, it can go up to 5/5 transcending ellora gears, 6/6 alsas gears, but Temain gear can be transcended to 7/7. The extra increase in stats are shown in yellow next to the base stats the gear gas.
Tempering System
Tempering is the act of upgrading equipment through the use of tempering stones. Tempering items increases the weapon's base stats (Physical and Magical Defense for armor, and Physical and Magic Attack for weapons).
Along with sealed familiars and the transcending stone system, tempering is one of three ways a player may enhance their gear, as well as the easiest and the one with the greatest effects.
How to Use Tempering
Tempering Stones.
In order to temper equipment, tempering stones are required.
Tempering stones come in many different levels in multiples of 5 (Currently the lowest tempering stone is Lv 5 and the highest one is Lv. 250).
Higher level tempering stones have a greater chance of a successful temper, and stones that are of a lower level than the equipment being tempered will always result in failure.
Extracting equipment is the primary way to obtain tempering stones early to mid game, although they can also be obtained as loot or from completing certain quests.
As a rule of thumb, higher level gear will produce higher level tempering stones.
There are also Shining Tempering Stones, which represents a percentage chance of tempering success rate (30%, 40%, 50%).
Those can be obtained by sending your Familiars to Familiar Adventures. Also, Blessed Elite Tempering Stones are guaranteed to temper a piece of equipment 100% of the time.
The Shining Tempering Stones and the Blessed Elite Tempering Stones are not effected by the total Tempering Chance, the tempering chance will always be the percentage shown at the tempering stone.
Using Tempering Stones
Once tempering stones have been acquired, right-click on the desired tempering stone and then left-click on the equipment to be tempered.
A dialogue box will open showing a rough description of the success rate, with Very High being the highest chance of success, followed by High, Normal, Low, Very Low, and 0%.
The equipment to be tempered will be displayed right below this success rating, and right below it will be displayed the result of a successful tempering, particularly the increase in its base stats. If the player is satisfied, they can then select Confirm to begin the tempering.
Regardless of whether or not the tempering is successful, the stone will be consumed (although cancelling the tempering will not consume it).
Be careful since an item can downgrade starting at tempering levels of +10. At +15 or above the item can downgrade two or more levels.
It is advised that starting at +12 you should start using elluns to prevent your items from downgrading when you temper your gear,
elluns can be obtained by completing daily quests, achievements or special events.
Equipment can be tempered a number of times depending on the level, ranging from a possible maximum of 5 to 25. Higher level gears tend to have a higher maximum number of tempering levels.
Legendary gear can be tempered between 20 to 25 times, while heroic quest gear can only be tempered 10 times for instance.
If you temper a item on +16 or higher an announcement will appear in the chat "Player tempered Item to +x".
However, any +16 or higher item cannot be traded anymore even if you haven't equipped it before.
Tempering Results
Tempering increases the base effectiveness of armor, such as physical and magic defense. It also increases the base physical or magic of weapons.
This does not increase the extra stats and effects on the armor, and a +10 Brutal Karasha Boots will have the same strength bonus at any tempering level.
Armor.
Tempering increases physical and magic defenses for a set percentage of the initial armor.
Karasha Armor with an original 200 physical defense and at +4 tempering level will have +50% of the original armor equal to +100 physical defense.
At a tempering level of +10, the armor will have a +240 physical defense bonus.
The bonus applies to both magic and physical defenses equally.
You can also use the tempering outfits, talisman dropped from Ellora Spire and Trials.
Tempering Talismans from events and also tempering titles such as Temper Emperor and Iron Willed.
